The art of chainsaw carving is a fast-growing form of art that combines the modern technology of the chainsaw with the ancient art of woodcarving.
Laser Cut Signage
Wooden signs can be made using laser cutting. These can be approximately 60x40cm maximum in size and any font and pictures can be cut into the timber. Laser cutting by its nature leaves a ark edge, which works well left natural but can also be painted. Larger signs can be cut but are sourced from another supplier.
Furniture made to order utilising the natural forms of the timber to produce stunning completely unique functional pieces. Carvings can be added or left plain.
Green Oak Framing
Green oak is used to create structures such as sign boards, gazebos, simple buildings. I work with Kevin Lloyd, a master carpenter to produce these and they can be either plain or carved. The Left picture shows some of Kevin's recent work.
Green Oak Furniture
Green oak furniture is made by using traditional joining techniques such as mortice and tenon joints.
Larger signs can be made either by painting or carving.
Square Edged Furniture
This wooden furniture is made using seasoned timbers.
Round timber can be processed either on site using a Alaskan chainsaw mill or offsite using a woodmizer bandsaw mill. Wooden boards are normally available to purchase.
Technical cutting examples include, Cladding steel with whole trunks, filling in natural cavities in veteran trees to prevent vandalism, timber frame building repairs. I also make custom film props.
PLaygrounds and Outdoor Classrooms
Carved or natural log play areas for schools, public spaces or private individuals. I can create Story telling areas, carved play equipment and outdoor classrooms for schools also.
